New free online poker school web site is up and I need to get some feedback. The classes include a set of online poker tools including a poker calculator and will focus mainly on Texas Hold ‘em. I just got done after a long night of terrible luck in a small game of nl holdem. One of my hands, I was dealt K J suited. I believe I was big blind, it limped all the way around to the dealer where he went all in (he had a decent stack, probably 4th highest out of 8 people, i had him covered by a little bit) and i called. a guy after me called and we turned over our cards. the dealer showed pocket 6’s and the other guy showed T 7 (still no idea why he called). so, i plugged our odds into a calculator, and between me and the dealer it was 50/50, but with the T 7 in there, i actually had 10% better chance of winning. of course the board went something like 76267 giving me nothing, the dealer quads, and the other guy a full house. i believe that the dealer made a terrible all in move, and just got lucky. is it right to go all in pre-flop with a mid to low pair? he had quite a stack still so there wasn’t any pressure, i could see a raise maybe, but i know with a low pair, the best idea is to limp and hope for a set. because, if the board came k 7 3, all he had was a pair of 6’s still. Why do people think small pocket pairs are so great? So someone please help me, do you think his move was smart? Or not?
5 people are seated at a poker table playing Texas Holdem. your using a single deck of cards, Ace thru King no jokers. Each player is dealt 2 cards. what are the odds of one player being dealt a pair of aces and another player being dealt a pair of Kings on the first 2 cards?Thanks
